Die Werkstatt zeichnet sich durch ihre Komplexität von der Aufbereitung der Rohstoffe bis zum Finish der fertigen Papiere aus. Als Rohstoffe kommen nur holzfreie Faserstoffe (Baumwolle, Flachs, Hanf, Manilahanf, Hadern / Lumpen) aus weltweit ausgewählten Bezugsquellen zum Einsatz.
These are not only characterized by their fiber length, but also by their purity and colour. Textile fibers are the historical raw material of papermaking and result in correspondingly higher-quality paper.
For processing, the fibers are ground in a hollander while adding water. This grinder crushes and shortens the raw materials entered under its grinding roller to defined qualities (strength, volume, transparency, etc.). The grinding time and grinding gap under the roller play a decisive role.
