The Craft of Illustration

Pascal Johanssen

Illustration and Craft are experiencing a rebirth. Driven by the personalities behind them and featuring select objects, atmospheric interiors, and scenic installations, illustration offer promising alternatives to classical craft and product design.

The Craft of Illustration is a striking documentation of today’s continued appetite for handmade artworks. Showcasing outstanding current artwork and artists, the exhibition also takes an insightful behind-the-scenes look at those working with this interdisciplinary and cross-media approach.

The works featured in this exhibition are influenced by illustration and real craftmanship. We are increasingly looking for products that last and have their own histories; things that meld form, function, and emotion into a compelling entity. This desire will continue to shape our attitudes toward consumer and luxury goods as well as innovation for the foreseeable future. The exhibition The Craft of Illustration shows how Illustration expands the possibilities of the genre while turning our worldview on its head along the way.
